Eczema Treatment

Eczema is a type of skin disease affecting the epidermis, the outer covering of the skin. It is characterised by itching, redness, formation of papules which are mostly reddish, budding of vesicles, crusting and, in later stages, oozing out of fluids from the papules, lichenification, and shedding of skins as scales. It is literally known as boils. Eczema is medically known as atopic dermatitis. This occurs both in males and females. It is known to develop amongst people living in dry and arid climatic conditions. The other major causes are allergens such as pollens, dust particles, etc. Microbial agents such as bacterial and fungal infestations can lead to eczema. Most common reported cause of eczema is use of harsh soaps and detergents, toxic chemicals, rubber gloves, etc. It mostly occurs in face, neck, head, limbs, elbows, knees etc.
Our New Look skin clinic offers variety of treatments for eczema. A wide range of ointments and antibiotics are available to cure eczema. We offer skin specialist-prescribed antibiotic creams with 1% hydrocortisone that must be applied on the top of the affected area, three to four times per day. To get rid of itching, Diphenhydramin drugs can be used twice per day. Antihistamine medications are prescribed to reduce the itching caused due to eczema. They are Cetirizine, Fexofendraine, and Ioradine. Steroidal creams are also given to the eczemic patients. Steroid creams such as cortisone alleviate the scaling and itching as well the tingling sensation of the dermis. But these pills possess great side effects. High-potency steroid may cause discolouration, skin irritation, and thinning of skin when they are used for long-term.
Our clinic offers light therapy or photo therapy also. This has no side effects. This uses sun lamps to decrease the eczematic tissues and puts off the major immune response stimulators, which increase the inflammation. Thereby boils, scaling and itching are reduced completely that are caused by allergen or microbial agents.
Besides the above treatments, natural remedies are also available which must be undertaken as per as physicians instructions. They are aromatherapy, acupuncture, application of herbal oils such as primrose, borage and drinking green, black or oolong tea
